Workshop Contemplative Principles for Improving Wellbeing & Effectiveness

Scientific research has recently demonstrated a range of benefits associated with ancient contemplative principles such as meditation, mindfulness, compassion, non-attachment, and emptiness. In addition to reducing stress and improving health and wellbeing, such techniques have also been shown to improve work-effectiveness, life choices, decision-making skills, job satisfaction, and quality of life more generally. The workshop will draw upon Dr Van Gordon’s ground breaking research in order to offer training and practical guidance focussing on applying contemplative principles in everyday life and work situations. The half-day workshop will comprise a series of short lectures, guided meditation exercises, group work, and Q&A.

Dr William Van Gordon is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Professor of Contemplative Psychology at the University of Derby (UK). He is an international expert in the research and practice of meditation and other contemplative approaches. William sits on the editorial board for various academic journals including Mindfulness, Mindfulness and Compassion, and the Journal of Concurrent Disorders.
